MY 28TH BIRTHDAY

Each year, it's seems harder to get excited about becoming another year older. A part of me still wants to run around and tell everyone it's my birthday, but then the other part of me says don't be silly, it's just another year. This year, I stuck with the first part of me :)

At work, I received many birthday cards and gifts from my work friends! One lady knows how much I love pie crust, and brought me an entire Baker's Square pie! There was also a Starbucks latte, which I definitely needed!

When I got home, I opened all of my birthday cards and gifts that I received in the mail, and received about 50 more messages on the computer! This made my day feel even more special! When Erik and I were home for the evening, we were debating about where to go to dinner. I told him that I would just feel really guilty heading a huge dinner so late at night, and instead we did exactly what I wanted to do...we went rollarblading and got ice cream! Yes, I know, very mature for my 28th birthday! What can I say, I'll always be a kid at heart!

I LOVE SURPRISES!

Friday night we surprised Erik's Mom with a 50th birthday party! We've been planning this party since April, and she had no idea!! We rented out the community clubhouse, where she'll be moving into one of the townhouses. We had a pretty good turnout, even though there were torrential rains right when the party began!

When she walked in we all yelled surprise! After a few minutes of saying hi to everyone, we had an even bigger surprise for her...her parents from Florida were there too! She about fell to the floor when she saw them! That was the best part! All of the planning that we did was totally worth it!

We had dinner catered for everyone and had fun hanging out in the clubhouse for a few hours! All of Erik's family came back and slept over at our house. This morning was fun because Erik and his brother, Matt made all of us breakfast, then we played basketball for a while. It was nice to finally be outside and enjoy some hot summer weather!

IT'S BEEN A LONG WEEK

Erik's been in Baltimore, Maryland since Monday, and I can't wait for him to come home tonight!! He took a new job with New Day Financial, and had to go to their headquarters for training. He'll be starting in their new office in Schaumburg on Monday. He's very excited, and is really looking forward to working for this new company. We're very lucky and blessed that he found a new job so quickly!

Even though I've missed him all week, I wasn't lonely! I had fun with his cousin Melody who stayed with us for the week! She and I stayed up till 1:30 one night with our girl talk! Lisa, Nick, Joy, Mel, and I had fun hanging out in the evenings!

I'm happy to be enjoying this beautiful day! Even though the sun's not out, I've got the windows open, and the fresh air feels great! I got all the chores done early this morning, and hope to finish some scrapbooking today! I can't wait to pick up Erik from the airport tonight!
