Father's Day Weekend

We had so much fun Father's Day Weekend!  It was the first weekend in I don't know how long where we didn't have plans to do something or be somewhere!  It was wonderful!!  I knew we needed this weekend as a family when Caleb asked me earlier in the week, "Eat pancakes with Mommy and Daddy?"  That was his request when I told him I needed to get ready for work :(

Saturday morning we did just that!  Erik made pancakes while Caleb and I fed the dogs, and we all listened to Disney songs on Pandora!  Caleb loves trying to guess which Disney movie each song is from!  While we were eating we told Caleb we were going to the beach that day!  He was so excited! 

We took him to Centennial "Beach" Pool in downtown Naperville.  It's an old rock quarry, turned swimming pool!  It starts at zero depth and has a huge sand area.  It's probably the closest, cleanest "beach"  to where we live :)

Right before we walked in I took out the bag of sand toys I bought him at Target the night before.  He was so excited and wanted to carry it in!  I don't know if he loved the sand or the water more!  He was a maniac!  What we learned at the beach:

1) Caleb is very fast!  One second he was sitting next to us on our towels, and the next he was off racing towards the water!

2) Caleb is not at all afraid of the water!  He would run right in, lose his balance, go under, I'd pull him up, and he'd try to do it again!!  Erik even got him to go under water on purpose!  They had life vests he could wear, and he kept telling me to let him go so he could swim by himself! 

3) Swimming is an awesome activity before nap time :)  He passed out on the ride home and slept almost til dinner time!

Sunday Caleb woke up and told Erik, "Happy Daddy's Day!"  Erik opened his cards and gifts from us.  "Caleb" made him a Shutterfly photo album with pictures of the two of them, and then a bunch from our family photo shoot!  Erik also got a travel golf case that he can attempt to organize all of his golf accessories in his car!

We then had a cookout at Lisa and Nick's house with both of their families!  It was nice and relaxing, and Caleb had fun running around with some of the other kids in Nick's family!  When we came home, my Dad came over so we could spend some time with him!  Caleb told him, "Happy Dido's Day!"  It was a nice family weekend! 

Her Name Will Be

Mila Grace!
We are so excited to finally have a name for our baby girl!  It really makes her seem that much more real, and I honestly feel more connected to her!  This is the name that I had first selected!  Erik loved Mila!  My reasoning for this name was because it was my Babtcha's nickname :)  Her name was Emilia, and my Dzadza called her "Mila."  Also, it's a little different, without being too different.  It's of slavic origin, which I thought was neat with my Ukrainian heritage!  I've also found several meanings such as miracles, friendly, soft, pleasant, gracious, and dear one.  I think those are all great qualities for a little baby girl!

More good news - I passed the three hour glucose test!  It was more accurate than the one hour test, and showed that I do not have gestational diabetes!  Thank God! 

Caleb has been telling us that Mila Grace is in his tummy too!  He snuck a piece of chocolate out of the freezer, and told me it was for the baby in his tummy!  Haha!  He said that she's going to come out of his belly button!  I love the things my little boy says!!

A Great Birthday Present for Erik

I had a doctor's appointment today, and got a little scared, even though the Dr. said he wasn't worried.  He measured my stomach with a tape measure, and said that she was measuring about 2 weeks behind.  He wanted to get some more accurate measurements, so he asked me to come back for an ultrasound.  Erik and my Mom came back with me to check on baby girl!

So happy we got to see her!!  The ultrasound was much more accurate!  She's measuring at 27 weeks, 6 days, so just a few days behind her due date!  They estimated her to weigh 2 lbs, 10 oz, and said that she's in the 40th percentile.  I said, "So she's kind of on the small side then?"  My Dr. said, "If I was a pregnant woman, I'd be happy to have a baby in the 40th or 50th percentile!"  Haha!  I agreed!  Her heart rate was 147, and so far she's head down!  Yeah!

I'm so grateful to God that she looks good!  I was so nervous all afternoon!  I also asked him about the various aches and pains that I've been having, and he said they all sound normal, and that I probably just need to get off my feet more!  Easier said than done, but I'm going to try!

So Erik got to see his little girl today on his Birthday :)  I'd say that's a pretty great present!  Now he's playing with his new I-pad, and I'm waiting for the crock pot to finish cooking pork chops and gravy!  I hope the recipe I used turns out good!  And Mr. Caleb is playing with his zoo animals!  It's been a pretty great day!
