Thanksgiving

Not only was it the first Thanksgiving that we got to celebrate in 2 years (because of Covid), but it was also Leila's 1st Thanksgiving!  I love the year of firsts!  We went over to Natalie and Jamie's.  The food and company was perfect!

Caleb tries Basketball 🏀

Once he got his Black Belt, he was ready for a rest from karate.  On one hand it made me sad because I'd to see him continue with karate, but I understand that he wanted to do something different.  His request for parkour or floor hockey came up short as neither are available in our area.  I asked him what about basketball.  There's a 7th grade team and they don't even have tryouts!  I thought this would be perfect for him!  I was a little nervous as he's never tried basketball aside from shooting hoops in the driveway.  While I was able to work on shooting and dribbling techniques, I didn't know anything about plays!

I was realistic with him and told him that he may not get a lot of playing time, but he would get to hang out with friends at practice!  He really surprised us!  We understood and picked up the plays right away.  While he didn't make any baskets this year, he definitely improved in his skills and confidence!  It was also amazing to see some friendships grow and the comradery between the parents.  Caleb was not the only new kid on the team, and we all cheered when any of the new kids got the ball!

We recently had an open house at school, and Caleb surprised me by hanging out in the gym and playing basketball for about an hour!  He would have never done that before!  I told him that we'll practice shooting all summer, and next year will be even better!

Veteran's Day Pasta Dinner

I love our Veteran's Day Tradition of going to Bartlett's Fire Barn for the VFW Pasta Night!  It's such an amazing atmosphere to spend time with the veterans and to support my Dad.  The kids love it for the face painting, balloon art, and bake sale!  It's also my favorite because I get to see my childhood friend Jackie and her family!  It was even more fun this year because Lisa and Nick's family joined in!
