Holy Saturday

Since last year when Caleb really understood the full meaning of Easter, he's loved it!  This year was even more!  With being at a Catholic school, Easter is really celebrated!  He'd come home and teach me parts of the Easter story that I didn't even know!

On Saturday we went to Mila's Preschool for an Easter Egg Hunt.  I was really proud of them!  Caleb and Mila were so gentle and calm during the egg hunt!  They looked for certain colored eggs, and walked right past a bunch, instead of crazily running a muck!

My Mom and Dad came with us
Then we went inside the school and did some arts and crafts.
This kid LOVES Easter!!
Then we came back home and decorated our eggs.

After we decorated our eggs, we got everything ready for basket blessing at my parents' church.  I love that the kids are aware of this tradition!

Caleb's Star Student Week

In the beginning of March, Caleb got to be Star Student for a week!  He got to hang up pictures of his family and favorite memories in his classroom.  He also got to bring home Ozzy the owl for the weekend!  The day that Ozzy came home, Caleb lost his 5th tooth!!  His friend Wyatt accidentally knocked it out when they were doing the Chicken Dance in music class :)

Ozzy saw Zootopia
He tried some chocolate milk!
Ozzy sneaked a peek of the tooth fairy!
He was so proud to have Ozzy at our house!

I Want to Remember

Caleb got his very first "chapter" book at the book fair last week!  Since he was home sick, I told him that I'd go and pick out a book for him.  He was very excited about a Magic Tree House series.  He said that his teacher reads it to them in class.  I found one about a shark, and brought it home to surprise him.  I pretended like I wasn't able to get the one that he wanted.  I told him I still picked out something I thought he'd like.

When I handed him the Magic Tree House  book his eyes got so big and he had the biggest smile!!  "Mom, this is the book I wanted!!"  I just smiled back at him and said, "I know!  I was just teasing you!"

He literally fell asleep clutching his book!  We started reading a chapter or two last weekend, and every night we'd pick up in our story.  Tonight we stayed up till 9:30 pm reading the last three chapters of the book!  I want to remember the excitement in his face and voice!  The way he was literally kicking his legs with excitement when we foreshadowed something together!  And the things he knows!!!  They talked about stalactites in a cave.  When we looked at a picture of them in the book, I was about to explain what the other ones were called, when he pointed and shouted, "These are stalactites and these are stalagmites!"  Seriously, how does he know that?!  When I asked him, he said from a show he watched on PBS!

Then there was a part in the book with a huge shark.  We looked at one of the few pictures, and he exclaimed, "Oh that's a whale shark!  They don't have teeth!"  Sure enough, he was right!

When we were done, he said, "How am I supposed to go to sleep now?!"  I told him that he needed to get some rest for school tomorrow.  He had the biggest, cutest smile on his face!  I told him I loved him, and he said. "I love you with all my heart, and then some, forever and for always."  :)  My heart is so happy!!  That's what I always tell him and Mila!!
