5 months old!

I feel like I just typed his 4 month blog! I can't believe our little boy is already 5 months old! This past month has gone by the quickest by far! I swear Caleb's doing something new every single day!!

Caleb began eating rice cereal this week!

Caleb weighs about 17 lbs, and has to be about 27 inches long!

He’s stretching out his eating to every 3 to 3 ½ hours, and eats about 6 oz at a time.

He’s wearing 3 month onesies, and 6 month pj’s.

Caleb’s eyes are a gorgeous shade of blue, just like his Daddy’s!

He's becoming a little mischievous...in a cute way!

Caleb has discovered his piggies and feet, and loves to hold on to them, especially during his diaper changes!

He doesn’t pee on me anymore during those changes!

He likes sitting in his Bumbo chair now.

Caleb really notices the dogs now! He calls out to them, grabs out to pet them, and laughs out loud when he watches them!

He loves rocking out in his exersaucer!

Caleb loves to laugh and smile! He smiles right back at anyone who smiles at him!

Caleb’s still very easy going! He only fusses when he’s tired or hungry.

He’s sleeping in his big boy crib.

Caleb usually goes to bed between 8 and 9pm, and sleeps until 5:30am.

He can roll over both ways.

He has two tiny little teeth buds, and lots of drool!

He likes to grab on to people’s faces.

He’s started scooting across the floor if you put your hands behind his feet!

He’s totally enthralled by the TV. While I was feeding him Saturday morning, Erik turned on Gameday, and Caleb was instantly not hungry anymore! He just stared at the TV, even bending backwards to see it when I turned him away!

We consider ourselves to be very blessed by God to have such a beautiful son! He fills our days with so much happiness and love! When he naps, it's nice to get a little Mommy break and take care of a few things, but towards the end of his nap, I'm checking if he's waking up because I miss him! We love being his parents so much!!!

More Firsts!

Caleb slept in his crib for the first time on Friday night! It was harder to put him in there than I thought it would be! I felt so far away from him, even though we have a video monitor! I woke up about 5 times to check on him, but I only looked on the monitor! At 5:30am I woke up when I heard him making his struggling noise. He had rolled over, and was stuck! He still hasn't mastered rolling back onto his back! That's ok! We're working on that :o) Hopefully it'll get a little easier each night with him sleeping in his crib! Our little boy is growing up so quickly!

Happy Birthday Riley!

Riley turned 7 on Friday! I can't believe our first little fur baby is old enough to be considered a senior! Where have 7 years gone?! We love our big dog Riley, even though he has a big bark! He's such a good dog that listens to us most of the time!

He got lots of birthday pets, and went to the groomers this morning! He looks so handsome! He doesn't know yet, but he's going to get a nice long walk with his family tonight!

A Weekend of Firsts

There were a lot of firsts this past weekend. It was my first night out downtown and first night away from Caleb. It was also Erik's first day and night with Caleb all by himself!

I had a great time with my girlfriends at Marissa's Bachelorette Party! I ended up talking about Caleb an awful lot :o) I missed him, but wasn't the least bit worried about him! I knew Erik would do a great job with him. I was just happy that he would finally get all the responsibility of taking care of Caleb!

For Marissa's festivities, we went to dinner at Rockit, went for a sailboat ride on Lake Michigan, got to see fireworks from the sailboat (awesome!!), and then danced into the night (and morning!) at Lasalle Power Company. We all spent the night at the Intercontinental Hotel. While I had a great time out with the girls, I realized that I love my life as a Mommy! It was nice to go out downtown, but I realized I really enjoy being at home with Caleb!

Erik said everything went great with his and Caleb's boys night! They went to Blockbuster and Portillo's, and then settled in for the night. Caleb gave Erik the total baby experience by honoring him with a poopy diaper on Sunday morning! In the 4 months of Caleb's life, Erik hadn't changed one poopy diaper! Not because he wouldn't, but he just lucked out! We are fortunate that Caleb only poops once a week, and it always happens when Erik isn't home! Well not anymore!!

Oh my goodness!!

Among all of the excitement for Natalie and Eric's Wedding, I totally forgot to blog about a major event!! Erik and I celebrated our 4th Anniversary!! Since it was on a Wednesday, we didn't get to go out to dinner like we have in the past. I got home around 7:00 and Erik around 8:30! At work I got a surprise delivery! Erik bought me a "fruit" rose to add to my rose collection from last year.

Each year we follow the traditional gift list! This year the gifts were fruit and flowers, or book and silk for the modern gift. Last year Erik got me fake roses made of paper, leather, and cotton to symbolize the 1st three years. This year I got a fake rose with a little toy apple inside! He just cracks me up!

I was having a hard time trying to think of what to get him made of fruit or flowers!?! Well after a lot of hard thinking I got him tropical "flower" swim trunks, a Jamba Juice gift certificate for a "fruit" smoothie, Starburst "fruit" chews, watermelon gum, and a book from the Twilight series! Erik bought me silk PJ pants from J. Crew!! They're super comfy!

I love that we have to come up with gifts that fall under the traditional or modern gift list! It isn't always easy, but once we think of something, it's always fun!

The 4 years have flown by, and I am so grateful to be married to my best friend!

4 months old

Caleb turned 4 months old on July 27th! I can't believe how big he is getting!!! He is such a sweet little boy! This kid has the best disposition! He almost never fusses! He is full of smiles and sweet giggles! He had his doctors checkup yesterday, and is growing beautifully! He weighs 16 lbs 1 oz (68th percentile) and is 26" long (81st percentile).

He's talking more and more everyday

He likes sticking his tongue out

Can roll from his back to his stomach!

Caleb notices his puppies a lot more now! He tries to grab out and pet them when they lay next to him!

He may be starting to teethe soon. He's been drooling even more, and likes to chew on his thumb and his giraffe toy.

He sleeps about 9 hours a night (WE ARE SO LUCKY!)

He wears size 2 diapers, and size 3-6 months clothes.

He only poops once a week! His doctor says that this is totally normal for a breastfeed baby!

He's always drawn to the tv...not something Mom is proud of! Everyone says it's just because of the lights and sounds, but I still try not to let him watch it!

Nicknames of the month: Bubba, Booboosh, Slobber Monkey, Goofball

Loves the water...bath or pool, as long as it's warm!

He screams out in delight! It's so cute, even if it is deafening!

He rubs his eyes when he's sleepy

He loves to sleep on his left side with his arm over his eyes

Every time he wakes up from sleeping he has to stretch

His hair is coming in blonder! And he still has blue eyes!

Caleb really recognizes our voices! During my Matron of Honor speech at Nat's wedding, he started smiling when he heard me talking!

He is a great traveler! He only cried once on the 8 hour plane ride to Hawaii!

Caleb is ticklish, especially by his neck, feet, knees, and ribs (okay pretty much everywhere!)

Current favorite song: Baby Beluga

We are so in love with this little guy! There isn't anything we wouldn't do for him! No matter how tired I am after coming home from a 12 hour day, I can't help but smile when I see his little smiling face! We're trying to enjoy every second with him, because we definitely see how quickly he's growing! LOVE YOU CALEB!!

Turtle Bay Resort

Monday and Tuesday were our last full days in Hawaii. Our friends, the Muhlbachs, stayed at Turtle Bay resort on the North Shore. Both days we went to hang out with them. One day we hung out by the beach so we could go snorkeling. Then we went to the pool for a little bit and then out to dinner. The next day Erik went out earlier to golf with Peter, and then we all met up at the pool again. Both days Caleb went swimming in the pool!! The water was nice and warm, and he floated around for about 10-15 minutes each time! He’s so cute in his little swim trunks!

On our last night, Mom and Dad went to dinner at Roy’s, and Erik, Caleb, and I walked around downtown Waikiki to shop at some of our favorite stores! The next morning and afternoon was spent packing and cleaning up the condo before heading to the airport. I can’t believe how quickly our Hawaiian vacation flew by, even though we were there for almost 2 weeks!

Beach Day

The day after the wedding, friends and family all went to Waimanelo Beach. The waves at this beach were my favorite!! They were so high, and I had a great time body boarding and jumping into the waves! They also had a volleyball net set up for everyone to play. After the beach, we went back to our condo and had dinner with Nat and Eric. We had to say our goodbyes, because they left for their honeymoon to Kauai the next morning
