9 months old

I cannot believe that Caleb is 9 months old!!! Last month in single digits!! I swear he’s grown even faster in the last month! These are all the wonderful things we’re enjoying about our little son!

Caleb weighs 20 lbs 12 oz (50th percentile) and is 29 inches tall (75th percentile)!

Caleb is wearing 9 month onesies and 12 month PJ’s! The boy has some long legs! He’s still wearing size 3 diapers.

He’s doing really well with his pincer grip, and is so proud when he feeds himself!

He loves his puffs! He eats the cherry, sweet potato, and cinnamon apple flavors! Mommy’s favorite are the sweet potato ones :o)

Caleb’s started to eat bits of banana , cooked carrots, pieces of wheat bread, and has tried some cooked beets in Babtcha’s borscht!

Caleb has 6 teeth!! He’s been a little bit more irritable with these teeth, but we really can’t complain!

Caleb takes 2 naps a day, anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. However, he’s really been fighting them lately!

He goes to bed between 8:30 and 9:00 and sleeps until 6:00 or 7:00am. We think his sleep schedule has been thrown for a loop because of his teething.

Caleb is still on the boob juice! Haha! (I’m trying so hard to go a whole year for him!) He has five 4.5 oz bottles a day. We’ve tried to give him more at each feeding, but he’s a grazer like his Mommy!

Caleb likes to shake his head no! A lot of the time he does it when people ask him questions! We’re trying to teach him how to nod yes!

He loves to stand and pulls himself up on everything! He enjoys stepping on his toys, and has even stood on his own for about 10 seconds!

He’s been ok with separation anxiety, and has only cried once when Erik and I left for a dinner out. Grandma said he was laughing within minutes and was fine!

Once in a while, when he’s sleeping, he still tucks his thumb in between his index and middle fingers, like he used to as a newborn.

When he wakes up in the morning he’s either sitting or standing up in his crib!

Caleb’s latest nicknames are Goomba, Dude-o, handsome dude, Dee Dee Dee, and still Booboosh!
Caleb is very quick at crawling!

Caleb loves his baths!! He splashes around like crazy, and doesn’t mind water all over his face!

He has started to protest when we say no, like when he’s rolling over during diaper changes or making a beeline for the dog bowls! He screams out with a big smile on his face, like he knows he shouldn’t be doing those things!

Caleb smiles all the time! When you smile at him he smiles back right away. Lately when he smiles he closes his eyes, scrunches up his nose, shows his teeth, and breathes in and out of his teeth! It’s hilarious! He knows it cracks us up!

He waves his hands in front of his face when he’s full, and has swatted away his spoon a few times.

Caleb has the prettiest blue eyes, and very blond hair!

He is pretty good at having his nails cut. I do have to sing to him the whole time, but it could be a lot worse!

Caleb loves to hold onto our ears when he’s falling asleep.

His finger has discovered two little holes on his face!

Caleb’s gotten really good at clapping his hands. He won’t do it when we want him to, but he does it randomly when he’s playing! Very cute!

He’s become more interested in hearing us read his books. We can tell he pays more attention to what we’re reading and sits still a little bit more!

Caleb gives great hugs! When I get home from work, he hugs me really tight, wiggles his body against mine, and shrieks!

He has great babbling moments, and usually says DaDi DaDi Dadi and Bababa over and over again!

When he hears music, he’s started to bop up and down!

We love our little guy so much!! We had a wonderful Christmas with him, and are really trying to cherish every little moment with him! We can't believe we'll be celebrating his 1st birthday in just a few months! This Momma's already starting the party planning :o)

Continuing our Christmas celebration

On Tuesday we celebrated Christmas at Erik's Mom's house! Caleb was a pro at opening his presents! He is such a lucky little boy to be loved by so many people! It was really nice to just relax and hang out with all of Erik's siblings, his Mom and Bill! We all had some yummy mostaccioli, cookies, and pumpkin pie. We also had fun exchanging our presents!

Christmas Day

On Christmas morning we went to Erik’s Dad’s house to open presents and our stockings! It was a nice surprise that his step-brother Nick was home from the hospital! We enjoyed our traditional blueberry muffins, crumb cake, and orange juice! Caleb seemed like a pro openings his gifts! Afterwards we came back to our house to spend the day with Nat and Eric, and were surprised again that Mom was called off of work! She and Dad came over again and we enjoyed a ham dinner with a bunch of yummy sides! After dinner we relaxed, played Apple to Apples, and watched Toy Story 3.

Natalie had to go back home on Sunday. Our week long visit flew by…like always! Erik, Caleb, and I relaxed all day. I had to work on Monday, but have the rest of the week off! (I used my last vacation day on Wed, usually don’t work on Tues and Thurs, and have Friday off for the holiday!) Also Erik will be starting a new job on Monday the 3rd, so he’ll be off all week too! We're really happy to be spending this time with Caleb!

On Christmas night I rocked Caleb to sleep in his room and stared at him while he slept in my arms. I thought to myself, "while I'm thankful for all of the gifts I received today, the best gift of all is my Caleb!" I'm so grateful for my little boy! He is such a blessing, and makes me realize what's really important at Christmas time.

Caleb's 1st Christmas

We had such a wonderful 1st Christmas with Caleb! Natalie and Eric came home for the week, and we had so much fun hanging out! I was so excited that Natalie had the same reaction to Elf Yourself as I did, and we had fun playing with that for a few hours…yes hours! We also went to Target and had fun finding yummy sweet treats in the Christmas aisles!

On Christmas Eve Mom, Dad, Nat, Eric, Erik, Caleb and I hung out during the afternoon, then all got ready for church in the evening. Even though we got there 20 minutes early, there weren’t any seats left! Nat and I went to take a look, and found the whole front row empty! Caleb was so well behaved, and even sang along on some of the carols! After church we came home to have our traditional Ukrainian dinner. Mom had made pirogies, borscht, kutya (wheat and poppy seed dish), and the boys made salmon! Everything was so good! Caleb even had his first bites of cooked beets! After dinner we opened a few presents and had fun watching Caleb open his presents! He was so cute pulling off the paper and shaking it around!

St. Nicholas Day

St. Nicholas came to our house and left presents for Caleb, Erik, and me! I got 2 Christmas ornaments, one with two turtle doves, and a baby's first Christmas one! Erik got an ornament with two snuggling penguins! Caleb got an ornament with his name on it! It's a little snow globe that lights up! We also got some pez and a book with cute parenting tips! Caleb got a few new outfits, a picture frame for his picture with Santa, an inflatable bath tub that goes inside of the big bathtub, and bath toys! We even got special letters from St. Nick, just like always! Nat also sent us some cute ornaments for St. Nick day! It was so fun getting excited for Caleb to open his gifts!
