Auntie Nat's visit!

Natalie came home in April for a visit, and we had so much fun!  Usually it's a lot of running around for her, but I think this time was a little easier considering our house and her best friend's house are now only 20 minutes apart!  Her birthday present to Caleb was his first trip to the Museum of Science and Industry!  He loved it!!  We had so much fun running with him between the exhibits!  His favorite part was watching the baby chicks hatch!  One kept following him around, and he said, "I think he thinks I'm his Daddy!"

Natalie and I also had a fun sister day of shopping and going out to dinner!  One of the last days, we took Caleb and Mila to a fun place called Under the Big Top!  We played around in the "ball blaster arena" for about an hour and a half!  Caleb was very close to Auntie Nat this visit, and kept telling her how much he loved her and how much he was going to miss her when she went back to Hawaii.  He's such a sweetie!

Mila ~ 20 months old

One step forward, two steps back!  That's the theme for the past month!  The few things that seem to be getting better have taken a turn for the worse!
Mila's motion sickness is no joke!  The poor girl threw up 3 times last week, twice in the car, and once at the movie theater!  The movie theater!!  She got sick at Rio 2!  I felt so bad for her, us, and the people around us!
Her mommy attachment has gotten bad again :(  I thought we had finally turned a corner, but she's back to only wanting mommy, all the time!
She also has no interest in going potty on her potty chair anymore!  She tells me when she's going potty, but when I ask her if she wants to try to sit on her potty chair, she freaks out and says no!
Even with all that, she is still the cutest little 20 month old we know!  She is talking and communicating so well!  I love spending the day with her!  Some of her latest words are show, see it, chair, milk, water, need it, Cay Cay, James (her fav character from Princess Sophia), and cake.
When she feels like it, she'll wave at you and say hi!
Every time I walk down the stairs with Mila, I count the steps to practicing counting.  Well as soon as she hears one, she quickly says two!  It's very cute!
Whenever Mila asks to watch a show, I ask her which one and she responds, "James!"  Who would have thought that her favorite character on a Princess show would be the big brother!?

She knows the shape of a heart very well, and always points it out!
She is the funniest when she crosses her arms, lowers her head , and sticks out her lower lip and belly!  That's when you know she means business!

Happy Easter

On Good Friday, My Mom helped Caleb color eggs.
On Saturday morning, Caleb's preschool had an Easter egg hunt!  The kids had so much fun finding the eggs, and then playing at the playground!
Saturday afternoon, we went to the Ukrainian church in Palatine to bless our baskets.  This is a tradition I grew up with, and have done with Caleb and Mila since they were born!  We blessed the Paskas (Ukrainian raisin bread), eggs, meat, and butter that we would eat on Easter morning.  After basket blessing, you go into the church where they have a shroud laid out representing Jesus in the tomb.  You are supposed to get on your knees and kiss Jesus' wounds.  This year Caleb did this part with me, and he did a great job!  After he kissed one wound, I told him that was good, but he insisted on kissing all of the wounds.  I was so proud of him.
On Sunday morning, the kids found their Easter baskets.  Caleb got a new Octonaut toy and Mila got a new baby doll.  They both loved them!  We ate our breakfast together, and then Caleb and I went to church.  Erik stayed home with Mila who was actually quite sick :(
On Sunday we had a wonderful time at Erik's Dad's house!  The kids had so much fun doing an Easter egg hunt in the back yard, and we enjoyed a delicious dinner together!

After the egg hunt, Uncle Jay and Nicky brought out their baseball equipment!  Everyone had so much fun, and Caleb actually made his first hit!!
