Mila's Field Trip to Kuipers

I was so excited to get to go on both kids' field trips this year! Mila and the kindergarteners went to Kuiper's apple orchard and pumpkin patch.  I had Mila and two other girls in my group. We had so much fun exploring the apple trees, learning about bees, going down the fun slide, jumping on the air pillow, digging in the corn box, and running around through other various activities. At the end we got to pick out a little pumpkin!

It was great to see how Mila has become friends with these girls in her class! She did not know anyone coming into kindergarten, and about four of the little girls have become her friends! I was cracking up when we were trying to take a picture and they were all arguing over who would get to stand next to Mila!

When it was time to go home, I saw her getting her things ready and then going up to every girl in her class to give hugs and say goodbye! I knew that she likes to give hugs, but I had no idea that she did this everyday! Her teacher smiled at me and said that she gives her about five hugs a day!

I Want to Remember

When Mila is telling me something, sometimes she'll substitute a word with a silly tongue click.  It's hard to explain, but looking back, I'll remember :)

She has started to learn how to whistle!

Mila is making new friends in Kindergarten!  She seems to really like school and her teachers!  That makes me so happy!!  At a recent friend's birthday party, one of the girls was crying.  Mia put her arm around her and tried to tell her it would be all right.  Then when it was that girl's turn to run the relay race, Mila jumped up and down and cheered for that girl!  I told her I was so proud of her for being such a good friend!

Caleb has been sitting with Mila everyday at lunch at the peanut free table.  He does it willingly, and never complains, even though he sits with Mila and two other little girls!  I'm so proud of him!

Caleb is doing well in 2nd grade!  We met his teacher at curriculum night, and I'm so glad he is in her class this year!  She also has a son in 2nd grade, so I feel she is able to relate well to her students!  She said that Caleb is a thinker, and never really stops!  We nodded in agreement!  She said his brain is always going, and she sees it's hard for him to sit still at times.  She says that he's always creating things, and she can see how science, math, and technology are his strong suits.  She said she can see him grow up to be an engineer!  It was so refreshing and comforting to see how much she had accurately learned about Caleb in the first 10 days of school!

My little boy needs deodorant!  7 years old!  What!?  He tried convincing me that he could wear his same school shirt the next day because he didn't spill anything on it, and I told him he needed to check the armpits!  Surprisingly they still smelled fresh, but then he smelled his own armpits!  Whew!  He was so excited!! He ran up to Erik and said that it's time for deodorant! Then he screamed that he's wanted deodorant since he was 5! He told me if I couldn't find some for little boys or college boys, that he could use the same kind Daddy uses! At least we figured it out before he became known as the stinky kid!!

Currently, he is obsessed with dragons.  One weekend we watched How to Train Your Dragon, which he's seen before!  However this time, he asked to download a dragon game on his tablet, created dragons out of his geo shapes, named them, and found an old book of paper dragons that he folded!  He even wants to be the main dragon, Toothless for Halloween!

Mila's 1st Day of Dance

Mila took her first ballet and tap class and loved it!!

We had a shaky start, because she got really overwhelmed at the dance studio's open house.  I couldn't blame her!  It was very crowded and loud!  I immediately felt overwhelmed!  I thought to myself, "Oh my gosh, am I ready to become a dance Mom?!"  Later that day she told me that she didn't want to do dance anymore!  I was sad to hear that because she hadn't even tried it yet!

Luckily, my Mom, Natalie and I talked to her, and she agreed to give it a try!  We are taking classes at Dreams Dance Academy with her cousin Scarlett!  They were so excited the first day!  They even wore matching pink bows, which was unplanned!

You could tell Mila was anxious in the beginning.  She walked in with Scarlett, and sat right next to her on the floor.  They even held hands!  When they stood up to start tapping, they were standing shoulder to shoulder!  LOL!  After a few minutes, you could tell that she felt more comfortable!

With my background in dance, everyone assumes that I want her to do dance too. Honestly, I want her to do whatever she feels passionate about and can excel in! If that's dance, then I'll be excited!  If it's something else, I'll still be excited!
