Halloween Costume Drama

We have some great stories to remember from this year's Halloween!

When we were trying to pick out the costumes this year, I had some great ideas-Woody and Jesse from Toy Story, Sully and Boo from Monsters Inc., or a fireman and Dalmatian puppy!  Caleb didn't like any of these ideas!  I asked him what he wanted to be, and he answered a dinosaur!  I was hoping that he and Mila would have matching costume themes for a few more years!  I asked him, if you're a dinosaur, what is Mila going to be?  He replied, "Meat!"

Then his next great idea was that he could be an 8 year old big brother and she could be a baby!  I finally gave up on asking the 4 year old, and took a chance by asking the 2 year old.  She confidently answered monkey!!  Mila's costume choice lead to Caleb's decision to be Tarzan!

When we got his costume in the mail, he was relieved to see that it didn't come with the long haired wig!  He said he didn't want to look like a girl!  While taking his costume out of the bag, he looked at the built up chest muscles and asked me, "Why does my costume have boobs?!"  LOL!  Erik and I tried to explain that those were muscles, but even as he was putting it in, and whispered to me, "This costume is really booby!"

Then Erik and I thought of the great idea to dress up as trees, so when we were holding the kids, they'd be a monkey and Tarzan in a tree!  While getting ready for a park district party, I was taping leaves onto a brown shirt.  Erik asked Caleb is I looked like a tree, and Caleb said no!  Then Erik said I looked like an elf from Lord of the Rings, and I said I looked like the Jolly Green Giant!  We quickly ditched that idea!  Well the party ended up being cancelled for some reason, and while we were leaving the empty parking lot, Erik said, "Thank God we're not still dressed like trees!"

Caleb's 1st Field Trip!

Caleb's preschool class took a trip to Goebert's pumpkin farm!  I'm so grateful that my work schedule allows me to participate in things for his school!  I was just as excited as he was!  When we first got there, he stayed by my side, and even walked around holding my hand!  I told him that was fine, or he could go by the other kids.  He told me he wanted to hold my hand, and that lasted for about another minute :)  It was so fun seeing him with the other kids!

Happy 8th Birthday Reese and Bella

Cannot believe Reese and Bella are 8 years old!!  I am so grateful for their good health and puppy like behavior!  Reese is more reserved and keeps to herself, and Bella is still my worrier!  Both of them love to snuggle, and still prefer us over the kids, but there are some nights where they stay in bed by the kids!  We love these baby girls so much!!

Melody and Ben's Wedding

We had so much fun in Indy at cousin Melody and Ben's Wedding!  We told the kids we were going on another little vacation because we stayed in a hotel for 3 nights!  They were so excited and very well behaved the whole time!  I love going to family weddings and all staying in a hotel together!  It was so nice to hang out and see everyone!

Happy 60th Birthday Mom!!

Our 2nd surprise was on my Mom's Birthday!  We asked her to come over in the morning with my Dad to see the celebration Caleb had planned!  He decided he wanted to do a circus theme, and used red, yellow, and blue streamers!
The birthday banner Caleb and Mila created!
This was only when she saw the decorations!
We have a video of her reaction when she saw Nat!  She couldn't believe it!!  There was lots of screaming and crying!  She had no idea!  Surprise #2 worked :)

Surprise #3 also worked when we arrived at her birthday dinner, and she was greeted by 2 of her best friends, Julie and Betsy (and Kent too!)  We had a really delicious dinner and gave her a new camera for her birthday!  We had so much fun celebrating the best Mom ever!!  She deserved all of our special surprises!
