Happy 2 Months Caleb!

Caleb's officially 2 months old! He's growing beautifully! Yesterday he had his 2 month wellness checkup! He weighs 12 lbs 14 oz and is 23 3/4 inches long. He's in the 80th percentile for both! The doctor said he's a bigger baby, but not overweight, so I feel good that he's growing how he should be!

He was a real trooper after getting his shots! My Mom came with us to make sure I was going to be all right! Caleb and I both did great! The nurse was really quick with giving his shots, and only cried for a few minutes! The nurse was really cute, asking if she could give him a hug afterwards. She said, "It makes me feel better too!" Then I gave him a big hug and a boob...he was quiet within minutes! LOL!

He slept for most of the day, with about an hour of fussing and carrying on in the afternoon. His poor little thighs swelled up and one bruised. You could tell that they were really sore! He surprised us by sleeping through the night until 5:30am!

We're really looking forward to the long weekend! We're going to Indiana for a graduation party, and to hangout with Erik's family! It'll be the first time they've met Caleb! We're really excited!

8 weeks old!

I can't help but take about 200 pictures of him every week! He is such a cutie!! And with the new camera from my family, it's so easy to take a lot of pictures!

Caleb is 8 weeks old today! He's starting to smile in response to familiar voices and our smiles! He's also becoming more "talkative." I love it! By looking at these pictures, you can see how much his puppies love him! I'm so happy that they are so good with him!

Funny Story

So at about 6 weeks old, Caleb's usual pooping schedule of 4-6 times a day came to a halt! A 7 day halt! I've heard that this can be normal in breastfed babies, so I wasn't worried, but felt bad for my little man! You could see how hard he was working at it, but without any results!

I spoke with one of my friends, as well as my pediatrician, who suggested giving him some diluted apple or prune juice. I went with the apple! So we tried that for a few days, but nothing! My pediatrician also recommended taking a rectal temp to get things moving along. I so did not want to do that!! However, if it was going to help and stop the little shrieks of pain, well then all right! I was actually really proud of myself for being able to do that, and Caleb didn't seem bothered (Thank God!)

So as I'm changing his diaper, he finally pooped...and pooped, and pooped! The best way to describe what I witnessed was a playdoh machine! Hahaha! He filled up a diaper, I'd wipe because I thought he was done, and then he'd start going again! He filled up three diapers!

Then on Tuesday, it had been 5 days since the playdoh incident! When I lay him on his changing table, he likes to stretch, talk, and kick his legs around. We call this his workout time! So we were talking, and working those legs out, thinking it might get those poops moving! No luck!

Then while holding Caleb, I went to let the dogs out. While standing in the doorway, I felt something wet on my arm. I looked down and there was a giant glob of poop on my arm!! LOL! I looked at Caleb and he had poop coming out of the side of his white onesie!

It probably wouldn't have been so bad if I would have put him in a diaper that fit, instead of trying to use up all the newborn diapers! As I looked at him laying on his changing table, he pees, which also didn't stay in the too small diaper! I was considering cutting off the onesie for fear that I'd get poop on his head, but I just worked quickly, and only got a little poop on his head! He went right into the sink, and miraculously the Dreft stain remover made his onesie white again!

And I just wrote a really long post about Caleb's poop! :o)

Decisions, decisions

Being a Momma is full of decisions! Everyday I'm faced with the challenges of how to prioritize my responsibilities while Caleb naps! Whenever he falls asleep, I have to decide whether I should nap, shower, workout, eat, or pump? I don't even consider doing any chores, because all of those other things need to get done first! For the most part, pumping and eating wins out! I'm also not sure how much time I have while he naps! I'm not sure if he'll be asleep for 20 minutes or 2 hours!

Erik, Caleb, and I had a fun family day on Sunday! We went on a nice walk with all the dogs, and went grocery shopping at Target. It was so nice just spending time together!

Caleb has been breaking some records lately! Obviously every night is not the same, but he has slept 9 and 10 hours straight! We wake up, check the clock, and look at each other in disbelief! Now if only Erik and I were smart, we'd go to bed right when he does too!

Our little guy has been smiling more, especially in response to our voices! He's got the most adorable smile!! He's also been reaching out and swatting at his toys! And I don't think I can officially count this yet, but he rolled from his stomach onto his back...off of his boppy pillow! He had a little help, so I don't think it really counted!

My 1st Mother's Day and Caleb's Baptism

Erik helped Caleb with picking out my Mother's Day present, but Caleb gave it to me! I got a beautiful heart necklace! It has mine and Caleb's birthstone on it! Erik likes that we can add on other birthstones in the future!

My Mother's Day was extra special, because it was also Caleb's Baptism! He was so well behaved! He only fussed a little bit at the end of mass, but we gave him a bottle, and he was quiet during the rest of the ceremony! He loved the water, just like his baths! Natalie and Matt were selected as his Godparents. A lot of our family came to the Baptism and the luncheon afterwards! It was so nice to spend such a special day with everyone!

Caleb finally met his Auntie Natalie

Natalie came home for the weekend for Caleb's Baptism, and finally got to meet her nephew! He took to her right away! It was so fun having her around and seeing her interact with him! He loved how she talked to him all day long! He loves hearing people's voices, even if they're just explaining what they're doing in their every day tasks. Auntie Nat was such a great help to me with holding, feeding, changing, and helping me bathe him! We also had fun doing a photo shoot with Caleb! I thought of ways to position him, and Natalie took the photos! I think they turned out great!
