Hip Update
10 weeks post op, and I'm finally feeling better! My hip is still achy, and hurts with certain movements, but on a whole it feels better! I just hope it continues to feel better, and that I don't have any more real flare ups!

Rough Week
Poor Caleb! He came down with a runny nose and fever on Monday. That night we alternated tylenol and motrin every three hours. At 2:30 am he didn't have a fever so I skipped a dose. Well at 5:30am I heard him breathing loudly on the monitor, and when I checked on him he was burning up. 102.7! I know that isn't that high, but with his febrile seizure a few months ago, I freaked out! Erik and I undressed him and wiped him down with a cool wash cloth. He was such a trooper!
Tuesday afternoon I took him to the pediatrician to make sure his ears and throat looked ok. Everything checked out clear and he was full of energy at the MD office, of course! That night at 11:30pm he started with his croupy breathing. He sounded awful! I slept on the couch with him, and took him outside every hour so he could breathe in the cool air. At 6am his breathing wasn't getting any better and I was worried he was breathing more from his stomach, so we called the on call MD. The new ped we see is awesome!! I felt so bad for calling, but he made me feel much better, and by the time I hung up, Caleb was sleeping and breathing quietly. We decided to just wait till the ped office opened up instead of going to the ER.
On Wednesday, the ped office was slammed and recommended we go to urgent care or the ER. I took Caleb to the urgent care, and they gave him a breathing treatment, which was awful! He was so upset and miserable, and it honestly didn't even help. We came home and he still was having trouble breathing, but we knew that his lungs were ok b/c croup sounds come from the vocal cords. Well at 10:30 pm he got worse, of course, and we decided to go back to urgent care. I didn't think his little body could handle another night of labored breathing!
Once we got there they told us we should have gone to the ER, b/c the correct breathing treatment he needed wasn't available at the urgent care, hence the reason the 1st one didn't help! So they sent us over to the ER to be admitted. He got the correct treatment, and by the time we got into his room it was 2am! Erik said he was going to stay with him since I hadn't really slept the last two nights, and was feeling sick myself. Poor baby was so exhausted!
I picked Erik and Caleb up from the hospital at 10:30am on Thursday, and we all came home to sleep! On top of all of this, we have family in town visiting us!! Erik's Aunt and Uncle and cousins were all at our house during all of this! I felt so bad because we barely had time to visit with them! Luckily everyone was very understanding and helpful!
Today he is doing MUCH BETTER!! No more stridor (labored breathing) and now he just has a cough. We've been resting all day, so hopefully we'll be even better tomorrow!

21 months old
He calls after his cousin Nick when they play go, go , go!
He showed me one of his stuffed animals and said, “eyes, nose, mouth, and ears!”
He says “ummm” when he’s “thinking.” I said it one morning when I was trying to figure out breakfast, and now he says it all the time!
New words include: leash, why (for Super Why Show), hello, bye, cut, Riley, cold, hot, blue, lunch, juice, milk, water, choo choo, Reese, please, thank you, George (Curious George), more, purse, knife, bowl, close, tree, Beau (Jay’s dog), in, coins, Oma, bones, presents, door, hand, and borscht!
He says please in the cutest way!! Before he could actually say it I showed him a motion of turning his hand palm up, as to ask for something. Now he puts his hand out, turns his head to the side, and says, “Peese!” It’s the cutest thing EVER!!
He zones out in the car. He hardly ever talks or makes a sound!
Caleb is starting to notice when he needs to go potty, especially poop! He points to his diaper and says poo, then takes me by the hand and goes to the bathroom. He sits on his potty and tells me, “go!” He makes me leave and then calls me when he’s done! He’s so funny!
Caleb has a wooden fruit set, where the pieces are cut in half, and then held together with velcro. It comes with a wooden knife, so he can practice cutting his fruit in half. When he asked me for an apple to eat out of the fridge, he ran and got his knife so I could cut it up for him! We are stressing that he can only use Caleb’s “special knife!”
When I tell Caleb it’s time to pray, he puts his hands together. It’s so sweet!
He is as fast as can be! We had a box of chocolate on the dining room table, and within 10 seconds, he had climbed a chair, and was sitting in the middle of the table, helping himself to a piece of chocolate!
He asks for N, N, N (M&Ms).
When he wants something he asks for my hand and takes me over to whatever he needs or where he wants to go.
He is talking so much, and we love it!! I love how much more he’s communicating with us, and his words sound so sweet!
Christmas Fun
We had a very busy and fun Christmas weekend! Friday night we all headed to Jay and Tina's house for a turkey dinner and to open presents! Erik's Grandparents are in town from Florida for two weeks! Caleb had a blast playing with his cousin Nicky! Everyone had a lot of fun opening all of our presents!
Tina, Caleb, and I got some special presents from Lisa! She asked all of us to be in her and Nick's Wedding! Caleb will be her ring bearer, and I was asked to be her matron of honor! I'm so excited!! She asked us in a really cute way! Caleb got a ring pop, and we got shirts that say Team Bride. It's going to be such a fun wedding!!
Saturday we spent the day at Joy's house, and my Mom got called off of work, so she and Dad came over as well! Caleb got to open his art easel and do some finger painting! We all went to church together that evening.
Sunday morning we went to Fred's house to open presents and stockings. Caleb had fun opening more presents, and we had fun watching him get excited with all his new toys! We all drove to Oma and Opa's house for our traditional Christmas lunch. We had so much fun because Erik's cousin Justin and his family were in from California, so we had a house full of little ones! Caleb had fun playing with Izzy, Eli, Holden, and Sophie!
Monday morning we did Christmas at our house with my parents. When Caleb woke up he saw that Santa came to our house! He pointed out the presents! He opened up more presents and then went down in the basement to see his big present from Santa! He got a slide, and he loves it! That evening Erik's Mom and Grandparents came over and joined us for our traditional Ukrainian dinner.

Hip Update
Yesterday I was going to try to work a little longer than I did last week. I worked 8 1/2 hours! It wasn't too bad, so hopefully my pain will start to decrease. I just have a constant ache all the time. I really wish my days were normally only 8 1/2 hours long! I know I probably sound ridiculous, but that extra hour and a half really makes for a LONG DAY! Hopefully my endurance will improve as well!
The bad news is that my left hip is hurting today, in the same place where the right hip had pain. Maybe it's weather related? More than anything, it's just so frustrating!! I don't want to have hip pain for the rest of my life! I want to be able to run and jump!

Family Date Night
Saturday evening Erik, Caleb, and I went out on a family date! It was Erik's idea! We had dinner at Domo 77, where they cook the food on the grill right at your table. Caleb did pretty good, and kept asking the cook for dip! Then we took Caleb to his first movie at the movie theatre! We saw Chipwrecked...the chipmunks movie! Most people probably think that we're crazy sitting through the chipmunks for an hour and a half, but I love Theodore! He's so dang cute!! And the songs they sing were really good :o) Caleb was awesome! He sat in our laps and watched the movie! We were shocked! It was really fun to go out for some special time together!

1st Day Back at Work
Not what I expected! That's my first reaction because of how much pain I'm in right now :( I'm so surprised and frustrated that it hurts this much! It's literally an 8/10, and I barely did anything! I know I walked around the office quite a bit, but I walked slowly, and sat a lot! I only worked 6 hours, and am now afraid that it's going to take me a lot longer to get back to my normal job! I seriously feel like crying! I didn't think it would be this bad! If I thought it would have been this painful I would have extended my leave!
On the plus side, everyone was really nice and excited to have me back. Everyone is being really understanding, but I'm scared that they're going to expect me to be better by next week, and I have no idea when it'll be better! Pretty bummed while I'm laying on the couch and icing :(

St. Nicholas Day
We celebrated St. Nicholas Day on Tuesday! Caleb must have been a very good boy! He got a lot of new books, a little table, and a little "boy" doll to practice zipping, snapping, and buttoning. We're calling him Buddy until Caleb gives him another name! Erik and I also gave Caleb an ornament, and exchanged ornaments with each other. We thought that would be a nice way to collect special ornaments.
