Mila got her ears pierced!

With Mila's 10th birthday coming up, I started asking her if she wanted to get her ears pierced.  I got my ears pierced when I was 10, and I thought it would be fun to keep this tradition going!  She was somewhat excited, but somewhat scared.  I told her only if she truly wanted to do it!  We were at the mall with Lisa and their crew, and started talking about having Mila and Hazel get their ears pierced together!  A sweet girl at the store helped her make her decision with a small, purple stuffed bunny!

Hazel went first, and didn't really know what was going to happen. She did great!  Mila sat in my lap and helped my hands.  It was the craziest feeling because I could feel her ears getting pierced as she sat on my lap!  My sweet girl cried for a few minutes, but then she was all smiles!

8th grade buddy reunion

Mila had the best 8th grade buddy when she was in Kindergarten!  So much so, that they are still friends and get together every year!  With Mila going into 5th grade, that means her buddy, Aleksa, is going to be a freshman in college!  She's going to Spring Arbor on a golf scholarship! We put together a freshman care package for Aleksa, including a wallet for her college ID, Ramen noodles, highlighters, post-its, popcorn, and a whole bunch of other goodies!  The girls had a fun afternoon sharing lunch and swimming together, and her Mom and I had a great time catching up too!  I'm so grateful for these sweet friendships!

4th of July in Indy

I love 4th of July as it is, but getting to spend a few days with extended family makes me love it that much more!!  For the 2nd year in a row we went to Indy for a long weekend.  Cousins and second cousins get to hang out, soak up some sunshine, and catch up with each other!  And we get an up close firework show!  It truly is my favorite holiday!
